Startup Weekend 2010 Recap
What an awesome weekend. Had a blast and met a ton of people, and I’m extremely grateful I went! If you haven’t seen them yet, check out some writeups by the judges at Twilio’s blog (John Sheehan), and FlyoverGeeks (Ed Domain).
My team, ubercmd, worked on a one-window, one-actionbar interface for getting things done with your cloud apps, taking it from a basic tool to a super-useful (or should I say uber-useful?), legitimate product with baked-in revenue models. Startup Weekend helped me take a concept useful to hackers and hard-core users (myself, essentially) and turn it into a full-fledged business, extremely usable to coders and social media users alike. I’m proud to say that with all the above resources, we were able to win Startup Weekend, and I’m really looking forward to building this product so that everyone can use it to make everything they do on their computers easier!
Special shout-outs to my teammates Mimi Newton, a Booth business school student, who relentlessly challenged me to keep iterating and refining ubercmd’s message and business model, and Agam Patel, an extremely proficient coder that understood my idea immediately (even in the horrible terms I was using to describe it at first) and made quick work of implementing it. He helped think of many of the coolest things about the concept that was pitched at the end of the weekend, bringing his expertise with UI’s in the business world to help develop our very user-experience-critical idea.

Gone fishin’ at Startup Weekend Chicago for the weekend! Not sure what I’ll be pitching – need to narrow it down to one idea!
